Tony Laverick | Porcelain Bowl 

Tony Laverick established his own studio in 1988, having previously studied ceramics and worked in the ceramic industry in Stoke on Trent, including as a designer for Coalport China. His background in the industry has given him a broad appreciation of ceramics and techniques.

His work reflects an interest in the art ware produced by Royal Doulton in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, alongside the work of French potters such as Clément Massier. He is equally appreciative of the works of Kandinsky, Malevich, Mondrian, Nicholson, Brancusi and Rodchenko, as well as the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Surface design is created by merging and overlaying colour and line using a combination of techniques. Precision is juxtaposed with looser, painterly areas to express movement and depth, using glazes, slips and precious metals in multiple firings.

Tony is a Fellow Member of the Craft Potters Association and a selected member of Contemporary Applied Arts.
