Collectible pitcher/jug by Joe Finch

This jug is very similar to one held in the Aberystwyth Museum Collection. 

British studio potter Joe Finch began his career in 1964 with an apprenticeship under his father, Ray Finch, at the historic Winchcombe Pottery. After establishing Lesotho’s first studio pottery in 1968 and launching a wood-firing workshop in Appin, Scotland in 1973, he relocated to West Wales in 1984. Operating out of a converted stone barn near Aberporth alongside his wife Trudi, Finch has built an international reputation both for his domestic ceramics and as an expert builder of specialized wood-fired kilns.

Finch focuses on creating practical, wheel-thrown stoneware intended for everyday domestic use, including dishes, bowls, jugs, and cooking vessels. His production relies on a raw-glazing and once-firing process using a large, self-designed wood-burning kiln, which often incorporates soda-glaze effects.
