Waxwings at school
Today I was extremely lucky to see waxwings feeding on some cotoneaster berries when I looked out of the classroom window! There were two of them, and they were perking their crests up. They must have been fattening up before their migration back to Scandinavia. Unfortunately, the window was a bit misted up but I still had a good enough view to confirm their identification as waxwings. It certainly brightened up my RS lesson and they were my first waxwings, the second new species of the year. They were my 215th bird species. I have wanted to see waxwings for years and now I finally have!
