Colin Halliday en plain air

COLIN HALLIDAY

Born Cumbria 1964
BA Honours Fine Art - Exeter

Colin Halliday paints almost wholly en plain air, so there is an immediacy and capture of the transcient in his work that could not be achieved in the studio.  Colin has a deep affinity with nature and the British landscape, working in his home county of Derbyshire and further afield, in particular the Lake District.

Oil paint is generously applied, with a startling lushness, so that the naturalistic palette also takes on abstract qualities. Work can be of intimate small scale, where it seems that the paint is the main subject, or dramatic large pastoral canvases deep with foliage and reflections.
